Nadar Residentie: #1 Dries Tack

At our brand new Studio 3 at DE SINGEL Nadar musicians completely walk their own artistic path for a week.

During the Nadar Residencies @Studio 3, we offer our musicians the opportunity to completely walk their own artistic path for a week. An exercise in letting go for artistic directors Stefan Prins and Pieter Matthynssens ;). The musicians are given the space to experiment and to set up the Studio according to their needs, or even to empty it completely if necessary. In order to realise their project technically during this week, they can also call on Wannes Gonnissen, our sound wizard, and so much more. These residencies will give the ensemble the chance to discover and make their new Studio at DE SINGEL their own in various ways. At the same time, they will also inextricably influence Nadar’s artistic trajectory. We always conclude these residencies with a small informal concert.

Dries Tack about TUIN:

“A concert experience is by definition a stimulating environment. This is often what we seek: to be challenged and surprised, to discover new perspectives, perhaps even to be provoked. Consequently, concerts quickly transform into a visual, auditory, multimedia and multisensory bombardment of our senses, where we are shaken vigorously to awaken as a different person. But can a concert experience also be a comforting place offering peace? Can a concert venue be a floating bubble that allows us to explore the ocean? By researching the complexity in simplicity, ‘TUIN’ balances between an installation and a concert, between visible and hidden, between longing and timelessness. ‘TUIN’ awakens you with the gentle breeze of a distant bird.”

“Congratulations to Dries Tack for being the first musician to close his Nadar Residency @Studio 3. Together with Marieke Berendsen, Bertel Schollaert and Wannes Gonnissen, he created a Japanese-inspired Zen garden. Through headphones that acted like a microscope, we could experience the minimal sounds in a very tactile way. A beautiful evening during which the audience completely relaxed, a new concert experience.”
