Turbid Motion

Malin Bång

Turbid motion consists of a series of musical actions influenced by the different states of daylight. During the spring of 2010 I made a few comparative recordings during the moments of dawn and dusk in Stockholm (Högdalen) and Paris (St Paul/Rue de Rivoli). My interest was focused on the interaction between the light conditions and the urban noise in the two cities. The recordings influenced the creation of a number of gestures, all with a different combination of energy levels and timbres.
Different types of motion are going on at the same time, creating multiple layers of actions. These actions change continuously character, just as our perception of noise and motion is constantly modified. And just as a city scene alters with fading light and increasing noisiness the musical actions sometimes appear through a blurry filter in layers of turbid activities.
