Nocturne

Mátyás Wettl
2017

For 16 light switches (5’)

Like the Hungarian composer Mátyás Wettl usually says: ‘No need to explain – A surgeon usually doesn’t tell either which knife he uses to remove an appendix.

During the first COVID lockdown in the spring of 2020, the Nadar musicians lightened up their days practicing Wettl’s piece Nocturne with the light of their own living room/bedroom/study room. Put together it comes alive.

In live versions we have performed this piece with our own selection of thrift shop lampshades or in collaboration with art students from d’Academie Sint-Niklaas (De Nacht) and from SLAC Holsbeek (Erfgoeddag Leuven 2021 with MATRIX).
